Bio

Dr. Ding is an Executive in Residence in the Office of Health Affairs and Advocacy at Humana, where he focuses on special strategic projects, including in areas of value-based care, population health management, social determinants of health, and advocacy for physicians and patients. 

He is a practicing physician, currently teaching and providing clinical care as faculty at the University of Louisville.  Alex is a board-certified diagnostic and interventional radiologist.  He was previously a managing partner at California Advanced Imaging and also served as the Chief of Radiology and Medical Director of Imaging at Sutter Health Mills Peninsula Medical Center and on faculty at UCSF.  He was a trustee of the American Medical Association, during the early implementation days of the Affordable Care Act, and currently serves as the Chair-elect of the AMA's Council on Science and Public Health, during the COVID pandemic.  

He has been an adviser to multiple technology companies including Google, Eko, and Doximity, and previously served as the Chief Medical Officer at VideoMedicine, a telemedicine technology company.  Alex completed a BA in Economics and MS in Public Health at UC Berkeley, his MD from UCSF, his medical internship at a Stanford-affiliated hospital, his residency and fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and holds an MBA in finance from UPenn's Wharton School.
