Celebrating Five Years of MCiM
Friday, October 17, 2025
It was a beautiful and lively evening on Stanford’s campus, filled with the energy of Homecoming as students, alumni, and visitors brought life to every corner. Yet, for the Master of Science in Clinical Informatics Management (MCiM) program, the night carried a special kind of excitement. This was more than Homecoming; it was a celebration of welcoming our fifth cohort of students since the program’s launch.
The MCiM community gathered at the O'Donohue Family Farm to commemorate this milestone. Alumni from the first four cohorts, along with current students, faculty, mentors, staff, and their families, came together to honor the program’s evolution and the strong sense of community it has built over the years. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and reconnections as guests shared stories, captured memories, and reflected on how far MCiM has come.
Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. Kevin Schulman, shared heartfelt remarks on the program’s journey. He reflected on MCiM’s growth from its early days to the present, emphasizing how the program continues to adapt to a medical and technological landscape that is constantly changing. He highlighted how the MCiM community thrives by tackling the complex problems the healthcare industry presents through innovation.
Event student speaker John Wilson, Class of 2024, reflected on their personal experience in the program and the value of collaboration within the MCiM community. They emphasized how unique the program is, and how the strength of the Stanford network and the support of peers help students succeed. John also spoke about the importance of education and how it is more important than ever.
Adding to the evening’s excitement, MCiM staff members Veronica Schulte and Bell Escalera led a wonderful auction to raise funds toward establishing the program’s first-ever MCiM Scholarship Fund. This initiative represents an important first step in developing future scholarship support aimed at reducing financial barriers for students pursuing an MCiM degree and careers in digitally enabled healthcare.
It was an evening filled with joy, connection, and pride. The celebration served as a reminder of the strength and dedication of the MCiM community and the many people who have contributed to its success. As we reflect on five incredible years of innovation and growth, we look forward to the future with gratitude and excitement for what is yet to come.
