Carolyn Ruth Bertozzi
Carolyn Bertozzi is a renowned American chemist known for her pioneering work in the field of bioorthogonal chemistry, which involves chemical reactions that can occur inside living systems without interfering with native biochemical processes. Born in 1966, Bertozzi has made significant contributions to the understanding and manipulation of glycobiology and has developed innovative tools for probing cell surface interactions. She has received numerous awards and honors for her research, including the MacArthur Fellowship and the Lemelson-MIT Prize.
