Admission Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum GPA of at least 3.0, but GPAs of at least 3.5 are strongly recommended.. As a guideline, successful applicants typically earn undergraduate cumulative GPAs among the top of their class. However, please keep in mind that admission to our graduate program depends on a combination of factors, and all areas of a student’s application are weighed when applications are reviewed.
  • CV/resume outlining previous clinical, basic research and/or biotech/pharma experience

  • Three letters of reference 
  • Statement of Purpose (outlining career goals and why a master's in TRAM would be beneficial to your career growth) - Max. 1,000 words.

There is no GRE requirement. However, Stanford University does require proficiency in English and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores of all applicants whose first language is not English.  Evidence of adequate English proficiency must be submitted before enrollment is approved by Graduate Admissions.Learn more about TOEFL here

Candidates will also be interviewed by M-TRAM program directors later in the admissions process.

Application Timeline

1. Application submission deadline for 2026/27: January 31, 2026

  • Candidates must submit their application via Stanford Graduate Application. Under “Degree Program,” select “Translational Research and Applied Medicine.”
  • Stanford requires a $125 non-refundable application fee. The university offers an application fee waiver for individuals who have participated in a diversity-based program.

2. M-TRAM committee application review: January to March 2026

  • Candidates selected to the next round will be invited to an interview with the program directors.
     

3. Interview with M-TRAM program directors: March 2026

4. Admissions acceptance emails: Sent out in March-April, 2026

5. Responses to an offer of admission: March-April, 2026 (General Stanford-wide deadline is April 15th. M-TRAM will have an earlier deadline in mid to late March to accomodate waitlisted students).

6. One-on-one orientation meetings: May through October, 2026

7. First day of classes: September 22, 2026.
