Lab Manager Position Currently Available

A vascular biology and cardiovascular genetics laboratory in Vascular Surgery within the Department of Surgery seeks a full-time Laboratory Manager (Life Science Research Professional 1) to conduct research in the field of atherosclerosis and aneurysm research.

The LSRP will perform at a very high level tasked with conducting advanced vascular biology studies employing molecular biology and cell culture models. The LSRP will be involved in specific research projects that are funded by the NIH and other funding agencies, and will independently handle experimental design, execution, and interpretation of results. They will also be expected to make original contributions to the ongoing scientific efforts, analyzing their data and drawing inferential conclusions that promote further research. This LSRP will also be expected to track animals involved in various complex animal model studies, perform genotyping and molecular and in situ studies investigating gene expression and disease features. This LSRP will be responsible for the generation of mouse genetic models and will maintain the mouse colony breeding.

They will be expected to develop figures and text for manuscripts and grants, which they will help generate and submit, as well as supply technical text related to the methods, findings, and implications of the research. The LSRP will be expected to independently develop protocols for new methods in the lab that are central to the research mission, to document and to teach these protocols to incoming students and fellows. The position also entails top level lab management which will support such tasks related to ongoing operation of the lab, including ordering supplies and equipment, annual grant reports, maintaining safety records and lab equipment, and adhering to safety regulations and compliance and regulatory protocols.
