LAB MEMBERS
Amy L. Ladd, MD- Principal Investigator
Elsbach Richards Professor of Surgery and Professor by Courtesy of Medicine, Immunology, Rheumatology, Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Ladd is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with board certification in hand surgery and orthopaedic surgery. She is the chief of Stanford’s Case Hand & Upper Limb Center and Chief of the Children’s Hand Clinic at Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.
Deborah Kenney, MS OTR/L
Research Manager
Full-time Research Staff
Research Manager and Scientist for hand-related research both at VA Palo Alto HCS and Stanford Hospital clinics. Designs and implements research therapies and basic science in upper extremity rehabilitation and orthopaedic surgery.
Huy Gia Dinh
Medical Student
Combines principles in biomechanics, computational modeling, and orthopedics to explore innovative strategies for treating joint dysfunction in the hand, with a focus on wearable sensors and thumb osteoarthritis.
Kristin Halvorsen
Kristin Halvorsen is a medical student participating in clinical research with the Ladd group.
Jack Michaud
Medical Student Research Assistant
After working for 3 years as a management consultant prior to medical school, brings a fresh perspective to the field of orthopedics. Has found specific areas of research interest in fracture prevention and Dupuytren’s disease
Tara Shelby
Tara Shelby is a medical student participating in clinical research with the Ladd group. Her work has involved investigation into fragility fractures, Dupuytren's contracture and CMC osteoarthritis.
Ashley Titan
Research interests primarily center on conducting clinical trials to explore interventions to slow CMC arthritis progression, reduce post-operative opioid use, and basic science research focused on tendon-to-bone interface healing, all driven by the goal of enhancing patient well-being and outcomes.
Clare Wise
Conducts research on microscopic, clinical, and radiographic changes of the thumb CMC joint in order to identify factors that lead to faster progression of osteoarthritis.
CJ Sung Eun Kim, PhD
Brings a unique perspective as a US Golf Professional to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical needs using motion analyses, advanced analytics, and computational modeling.
Max Durtschi
Medical Student Research Assistant
Combines interests in both orthopedics and bioengineering to aid patients with joint degeneration. Conducts research aimed at finding innovative methods to restore healthy joint function in the hand.
Yemisi Joseph
Yemisi is a medical student interested in identifying the predictors of Thumb CMC osteoarthritis development and the time to end-stage progression. Her secondary interest is in identifying and validating clinical markers that assess the efficacy of current osteoarthritis treatments.
Robert James Reitz
Gabriella Smith
Gaby is a medical student conducting clinical research with the Ladd group. She is currently studying Dupuytren's contracture and patient perceptions of opioids following trapeziectomy.
