Backup My Data Please!
In a world where computers keep getting smaller and more portable, and our professional and personal information is increasingly being stored on tiny devices, one small event is all it takes to cause a huge loss of data. Whether your hard drive fails, your computer is lost or stolen, a malware or ransomware attack, or other loss or damage occurs, once is enough.
Per Stanford's minimum security standards, Stanford data on any endpoint device (computer, phone, etc) should be backed up at least once a day. Stanford application data stored on a server should be backed up at least weekly. For both endpoints or for servers/applications, backup data should be encrypted at rest and in transit.
