Computer Recommendations

TDS can assist you with the ordering and setup of your new departmental computer.

Please see the list below of our recommended systems, which will suit the majority of the students, faculty and staff within the School of Medicine.

To request help with your order, please submit a help request specifying one of the systems below, or ask for help with a custom configuration. The TDS Provisioning Team will work with you to get you a system that best meets your needs. We can even assist with accessories; Monitors, Dell Docking Stations, Tablets, etc…

Working with the TDS Provisioning Team and getting a system that meets recommended requirements will ensure you get a system that will work best for you, while enabling us to provide you and your system with the highest level of support.

Process Details:

After submitting your request, a member of the Provisioning team will contact you to confirm your request and discuss your needs. Once finalized, we will configure the system via SmartMart and assign a cart to the department for purchasing. It will be up to the department to confirm that the recommended machine will meet cost and usage criteria before submitting the order. Systems should be delivered to IRT (see address below). IRT Techs will image and encrypt the system before it is deployed to the end user. The standard images used by IRT include the latest Operating System version of Mac or Windows*, Microsoft Office and all software listed as Essential Stanford Software.

*Orders will include the cheapest iteration of the Windows Operating System as there is a no cost upgrade according to Stanford's Site license agreement.

Recommended Minimum Configuration

The School of Medicine has developed the following recommended requirements based on several factors including reliability, servicability and life cycle. Staying within these recomendations should help ensure your system meets your needs for the next three years.

Minimum Requirements

While infrequent, there are reasons for ordering machines that fall outside of the School of Medicine recommended requirements. For these instances, we would like all purchases to meet the following minimum set of requirements:
