Amanda Young

Director of Health & Wellness, Special Olympics Northern California

Amanda is the Director of Health & Wellness for Special Olympics Northern California. She is responsible for overseeing the Healthy Athletes screening events, our Athlete Health Messenger team, fitness programs, and more. Amanda worked with the Special Olympics Development Team in 2017 before rejoining the organization in 2019 in her current role. She also worked for several years with the Oakland A’s and the Los Angeles Angels in their Community Relations Department after graduating from Wellesley College with a degree in Neuroscience and Spanish. She’s currently pursuing her Master’s in Healthcare Administration.

She has learned so much from her fellow CAB members & the IDD-Transform team and is excited to make our healthcare system more inclusive for our community. Amanda loves living in Oakland, and in her spare time, enjoys spending time outside with her friends and family, and her Saturdays as a Coach with the Team Oakland Basketball and Soccer teams.
