About Us

Message from the Chief

Neera Ahuja, MD, FACP

Welcome to the Stanford Division of Hospital Medicine!  We are dedicated to providing outstanding inpatient care, mentoring & developing academic hospitalists with professionally fulfilling careers, & creating innovative care models.  Additionally, many of our faculty are deeply engaged in medical education, clinical research, informatics, & quality improvement initiatives throughout the institution.  Our division is comprised of over 70 faculty (with many in leadership roles) across Stanford and SHC-Tri-Valley with high retention/morale supported by our division’s wellness curriculum.

Our Surgical Co-management program, which was one of the first of its kind in 2012, continues to demonstrate high quality outcomes as well as successful collaboration with our surgical partners in Orthopedics, ENT, and Neurosurgery.  The Bedside Medicine/Stanford-25 Medical Education program is led by our faculty with international reach!  Our long-standing SHAPE (Stanford Hospital Advanced Preparation & Education) hospitalist curriculum for housestaff (which includes POCUS training) was one of the first of its kind in the country & continues to rigorously prepare housestaff who are interested in becoming career hospitalists.  In 2015 we created the first hospital medicine presence at SHC-Tri-Valley, many of whom have become leaders in hospital administration, informatics, and patient safety.

We are excited about what we have built and invite you to learn more about our growing division through our website.  Please feel free to contact us for further inquiries.
