Alexander Salter MD, PhD
Alex was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University and then returned to Seattle, attending the University of Washington for his MD and PhD (MSTP) studies. His doctoral dissertation at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center focused on developing T cell therapies for cancer and the design principles for novel immune receptors like chimeric antigen receptors. Alex then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He short-tracked into Oncology and is excited to return to the West Coast to complete his fellowship training. At Stanford, Alex plans to focus on the implementation of novel technologies for the study of the human immune system and the development of immunotherapies for cancer. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, as well as hiking, biking, skiing, and visiting craft breweries.
