Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Center

Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is a genetically linked disorder that causes abnormalities in the blood vessels. Patients can develop telangiectasis, which is an abnormal dilation or enlargement of the small blood vessels that can be seen on the skin surface.

The Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia Center of Excellence at Stanford Hospital has a care team that draws from a breadth of medical and surgical specialties to offer you highly individualized, comprehensive care support.

Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) Center

Under the direction of Dr. Peter Greenberg, Professor of Medicine (Hematology), the Stanford MDS Center provides specialized expertise for adults with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and related clinical conditions.

The MDS Center is part of the Stanford Cancer Institute's Division of Hematology and includes an outpatien clinic, a clinical trials infrastructure, and dedicated personnel. Together, these resources offer patients and their physicians access to:

Up-to-date information about MDS
Current therapeutic approaches, including bispecific antibodies, chemotherapies, and bone marrow transplantation
Clinical trials for MDS
Guidance on optimal use and timing of treatment therapies

Major Focus Areas

The MDS Center is dedicated to:

Coordinating patient management and scientific exchange with referring physicians
Providing education for patients and families about MDS
Developing individualized, prognosis-based treatment strategies
Addressing quality-of-life issues for patients with MDS

Management Approaches

Management at the Stanford MDS Center follows the latest national practice guidelines developed by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), reflecting recent advances in the prognostic evaluation o MDS patients.

Treatment options vary according to each patient's MDS subtype and associated clinical issues, and may include:

Supportive care (e.g., transfusions, antibiotics as needed)
Standard therapeutic regimens
Access to novel investigational agents through clinical trials

Treatment and clinical trial participation are available through the MDS Center in the Hematology Clinic, th Infusion Treatment Area, and the Clinical Research Trial Unit.
