The generation of inner ear cells from stem cells is fundamental for future drug screening approaches as well as for evaluation of inner ear disease from patients without direct biopsy of a patient’s inner ear. Our goal with this research is to identify the critical factors that lead to a failure of formation of inner ear cells, which is a major roadblock of using this technology for research and drug development.
