Lesson 2 - Bust the Aging Myths
How to shift your beliefs and perceptions about aging
1) Acknowledge your own aging biases
It's difficult to avoid having an aging bias living in American culture. Television and film media often promote stereotypes of older people as being slower and less able than younger people. Many times we base our images of what aging looks like on a limited experience of a few older people in our lives. Few of us see the range or the complexities of older lives. Becoming aware of our aging biases and their origins can help us to challenge what we hear, read, and believe.
Take a moment to think about some aging biases you may have.
