Lifestyle choices that impact how we age

Here is a list of some lifestyle behaviors that will add life to your years as well as years to your life. We will be looking at many of these in more detail over the course of this class.

  • Regular physical activity
  • Continued social connections
  • Emotional support
  • Resiliency- the ability to bounce back after suffering a loss
  • Self efficacy - a feeling of control over one's life
  • Mental stimulation
  • A healthy sexuality
  • Maintaining productivity and making ourselves necessary
  • Good nutrition
  • Not smoking
  • Getting preventative checks for disease
  • Caring for others
