What is Steps for Change?
The Steps for Change study is a new and innovative research study designed to test different health programs to promote healthy habits specifically for midlife and older adults living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Steps for Change study aims to improve the health and well-being of the participants through becoming more physically active, by increasing their walking steps.
We at HARTS Lab aim to build a healthy living group, not just to get everyone to walk but also to have self-empowerment, confidence, and engagement in communities.
During the length of the study, participants will engage in regular group sessions that provide education, motivation, and support to set realistic goals, identify and overcome barriers to increase and maintain active and healthy living, which may help reduce the risk of progression of chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other heart conditions.
