Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC)
When: 2nd Thursday of the month, 5:00PM - 6:00PM (see dates below)
Where: H3210 SHC Administration (temporarily meeting via Zoom, link in email)

Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC)

The Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) meets monthly on the 4th Thursday of each month via Zoom. The committee is charged with oversight of Stanford's residency and fellowship programs.

Individuals wishing to place an item on a meeting agenda should contact Ann Dohn in the Office of Graduate Medical Education.

The review committee is chaired by Laurence Katznelson, MD, Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education.

Oversight, Review and Approval of

Program Proposals

GMEC will consider the Appointment of Program Directors and Associate Program Directors twice a year at the September and April Meetings, except in cases where a Program Director is leaving.

 

Detail

New Program Director (PD) Proposal

New Associate Program Director (APD) Proposal

Pre-GMEC Meeting
(2-3 weeks before)

Required Documents (submit the documents to the GMEC Administrator 1 week prior)

  1. Letter of support from Department Chair with % protected time
  2. New PD CV

*All submission must state who is the outgoing PD

  1. Letter of support from Department Chair
  2. New APD CV

*All submission must state who is the outgoing APD or if this is an APD addition

1 week prior to GMEC Meeting

  1.  All documents will be sent out for review.
  2. Any comments/questions/concerns will be brought up prior to the meeting.
  3. For any proposals with comments/questions/concerns, a presenter will be asked to attend the meeting*.

*presenters do not need to attend GMEC meeting if there are no comments/questions/concerns for the corresponding proposal

Proposed PD/APD is NOT allowed to attend this meeting.

 

During GMEC

Process

GMEC Chair calls for a committee vote.

 

After GMEC

GME Responsibility

  • GME e-mails the Director, Coordinator and Presenter regarding the approved proposal
  •  When Program adds approved PD on ACGME WebADS, DIO will make the PD change in ACGME. 

Program Responsibility

If an ACGME program, Program Coordinator must ensure that the proposed PD/APD is listed in ACGME WebADS.
