Professional Development
The Department of Graduate Medical Education (Community Engagement) supports programming, events, and resources that foster leadership and professional development during training, and retention of diverse GME trainees into fellowship and/or academic careers through mentorship.
We achieve these goals through the following:
- Hosting professional development sessions on topics selected by the GME Diversity Committee Professional Development Chairs
- Provide support for the Leadership Education in Advancing Diversity (LEAD) Program
- Curating and sharing leadership and professional development resources available to diverse GME trainees
- Supporting GME trainee participation in the Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians (BNGAP) Academic Medicine Writing Fellowship
- Connecting trainees with mentors and health equity research opportunities through the Health Equity Action Leadership (HEAL) Network
- Collaborating with the Office of Faculty Development and Engagement to host events that promote mentorship, professional development, and the retention of GME trainees into fellowship and academic careers
