"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education."

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?"

- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

"Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will."

Open for applications from CA-1 and CA-2 residents, the Global Anesthesia Pathway aims to prepare residents for ethical and informed engagement in global health work. The resident pathway illuminates the many ways perioperative providers can serve patients facing healthcare barriers and improve the social obstacles contributing to health access disparities. Our Division believes global health starts at home and strives to address problems facing our local communities in addition to working with partners across the globe.

Strengths of this pathway include:

  •  Resident Pathway Lecture Series
  •  Several Course offerings across the university and hospital campus
  •  Paired faculty mentorship
  •  Fully funded 4-week rotation supporting GA project completion
  •  Pairing with international colleagues for capstone projects
  •  Facilitation and mentorship for publications and presentations
