Matthew Mesias, MD
Dr. Mesias is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and furthered his training internal medicine residency and geriatrics fellowship at the University of Washington. He serves as the Medical Director of the Inpatient Geriatrics Consult Service at Stanford University Hospital and as the Medical Educational Director for the Stanford Geriatrics Section. His academic interests include quality improvement in geriatric care, mentorship of medical trainees, and the development of curricula for geriatrics medical education. In 2023, he was awarded the HRSA Geriatric Academic Career Award (GACA), which supports his leadership and professional development while creating geriatric educational programs for community-partnered clinics. In 2025 with the support of his GACA, he developed and launched Stanford’s first geriatric e-consult service to expand geriatric specialty care to local underserved populations.
