    Dr. Dan Eisenberg’s paper, “2022 ASMBS and IFSO: Indications for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery,” has been selected as one of the inaugural recipients of The Harvey’s Award, which is presented jointly by the TREO Foundation and SOARD.

    On this episode of Scrubcast, we dive deep into the world of trauma surgery with Dr. Joe Forrester, an associate professor in the Division of General Surgery at Stanford University, the trauma medical director for Stanford Healthcare, and founding director of Stanford’s Chest Wall Injury Center. Dr. Forrester shares his personal journey as both a surgeon and a trauma patient. He also talks about bringing new surgical techniques to Stanford including SSRF and how he shares he knowledge with residents and fellow surgeon — all in the hopes of providing patients with the level of care he would want for his family and friends.

    Stanford Surgery Equipment Seed Grant Buys 4 H100 Compute Nodes

    Thanks to a Department Seed Grant, Stanford Surgery faculty have purchased four supplemental nodes on the Stanford shared computing cluster, aka Sherlock, which will greatly increase the computing power available to researchers using large data sets and AI.

    Drs. Arbaugh, Hameed and Sheckter Recognized at Stanford Medicine Teaching Excellence Awards ceremony

    Dr. Morad Hameed received the 2025 Arthur L. Bloomfield Award and Dr. Carlie Arbaugh received both the Kelley M Skeff Professionalism Award and the Arnold P. Gold Award for Humanism and Excellence in Training.

    Dr. Hawn Elected President-elect of SSAT

    Dr. Mary Hawn was elected President-Elect of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Track at their annual meeting earlier this month. Hawn will assume the position of president in 2026, succeeding current society president Dr. Gregory D. Kennedy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

    Yann Safrek, PhD is a postdoc in Dr. Lisa Knowlton's lab. Working in partnership with CisionVision, a startup company, Sakref is developing computer vision models for surgical assistance.
