Spotlight: Robin Cohen
Administrative Associate
Can you describe a challenging project you tackled and aced? What made it so rewarding?
"One of my earliest and most challenging projects was onboarding one of our colorectal surgeons. This particular surgeon was coming to run a whole new offsite facility. Working closely with our division manager and admin leadership, I attended meetings with the new clinic leadership, connected with SHC staffing, billing, and credentialing offices, and even coordinated with the moving van company. The whole process from initial interviews to start date took over a year and a half. I learned so many new things, and was pleased to provide a smooth transition in for our new faculty member."
What are you most passionate about outside of work?
"Just about everyone in my division knows I'm passionate about live community theater. I spend almost all my spare time outside of work being a box office associate, house manager, or just a volunteer usher, at several local theaters. Several of the staff and faculty have become theater goers (and a few already were), inspired by the various theater companies' season brochures on my desk countertop."
What’s a fun fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?
"Most people don't know that I've been on campus since 1998, and have been riding my bike to work nearly the entire time. I live a little further away than I used to, so I take my bike on the train instead of riding the whole way. I was an early member of Stanford Parking and Transportation's Commute Club, which started in 2002. That gives you an idea of how long I've been around campus."
