Can you describe a challenging project you tackled and aced? What made it so rewarding?

“One project that stands out for me is the processing of a recent 2113 medical license. This project was particularly complex due to the stringent requirements and the need for meticulous attention to detail. The process involved coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including medical professionals, regulatory, and internal departments, to ensure that all documentation was accurate and complete. Historically, the processing of 2113 medical license applications has been a lengthy and cumbersome process. Our applicants often faced significant delays due to a variety of factors, including extensive documentation requirements, thorough background checks, and the need for multiple approvals from different governing bodies. These delays usually extend the timeline for obtaining a license by several months, which directly impacts the ability of qualified surgeons to begin their clinical work and ultimately affecting clinical care.

In this particular instance, by recognizing these challenges, identifying ways to streamline the application process to reduce turnaround times, and improve communications with all the multiple stakeholders and regulatory bodies, the Medical Board of California granted us approval for this application 6 weeks in advance of this applicant’s anticipated start date. This early approval meant that the credentialing process at Stanford Health Care could also be completed ahead of schedule, allowing the surgeon to step into the OR and assist in a couple of cases on their very first day!

It goes without saying that having the support of my team was pivotal in this process; knowing I could count of each and every one of them was extremely important. Their readiness to help whenever I needed help, while managing their own responsibilities with such competence, made a significant difference and allowed me to focus entirely on this project. This experience was incredibly rewarding, not only because we expedited a critical process, but also because it reinforced my belief in the vital role of teamwork and innovation in healthcare. The success of this project would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my team. It was truly fulfilling to see the direct impact of our efforts on patient care, and to witness how the surgeon could make an immediate contribution as a result!”

What are you most passionate about outside of work?

“I enjoy a variety of activities that bring me lots of joy and fulfillment. For instance, I appreciate spending time outdoors, whether it's going for walks, exploring new places, or simply enjoying all that life has to offer. I also find pleasure in reading and learning about different topics, which helps me unwind and expand my knowledge. Traveling is also a passion of mine; I recently had the opportunity to visit Australia with my husband, where I was captivated by its stunning landscapes and vibrant cities. I really enjoy the time I get to spend with friends and family, as those connections are extremely important to me. I believe that engaging in diverse activities and nurturing relationships contributes to a well-rounded life!”

What’s a fun fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?

“A fun fact about me that most people wouldn’t know is that I’m a huge foodie! I absolutely love exploring different cuisines and trying out new recipes in my kitchen. Whether I’m on the hunt for the best local restaurants or whipping up international dishes at home, I get so much joy from cooking, tasting, and, of course, sharing delicious meals with my friends and family. I’m always excited to discover new ingredients and learn about different culinary traditions. It’s such a fun hobby that not only satisfies my taste buds but also helps me connect with people and cultures through their amazing food. Spicy dishes always get my approval; I can’t resist the thrill of a little heat in my meals—it adds an extra layer of excitement and flavor!”
