Spotlight: Chloe Nobuhara
General Surgery Resident
What initially drew you to surgery, and how has that passion evolved over time?
“My grandfather on my mom's side practiced as a wartime surgeon in the Philippines before moving to the US. I always loved his brave and dramatic stories from the OR. He eventually passed away from Alzheimer's disease, and witnessing the powerful hold of dementia on a person really affected me growing up. This led to my research interest in neurodegeneration, and I’ve reconciled that passion with a deeply rooted love for surgery by studying delirium and post-operative cognitive outcomes.”
