Funding Opportunities at Stanford

T32 Training Grants

T-32 training grants from the NIH are among the most popular and frequently funded training grants that prepare predoctoral and postdoctoral individuals for careers in research that have a significant impact on the health-related research needs of the nation. These grants pay stipend, travel, research costs and other expenses and is supported by most institutes at the NIH. Additionally, training program grants have been designed to help ensure that a highly skilled workforce is available to undertake leadership roles and help advance the nation’s biomedical and clinical research agenda. T32 grants support trainees for up to 1 year but possibly more. Most researchers are not aware of the opportunities available with these important training grants and the requirements for applying.

The KL2 Mentored Career Development Program

provides  junior faculty in health-related professions with financial support and advanced training in clinical and translational research. Awardees will receive access to career-development mentors, tuition support and a salary subsidy. Research performed within the KL2 program is designed to help participants obtain future National Institutes of Health research grants.

Small Grant Program

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University Medical Center from time to time offers Pilot Research Awards of up to $10,000 for original research (basic, translational, epidemiological and clinical outcomes). The goal of this program is to stimulate original investigation by trainees and faculty from the Division in general and to provide funding for pilot projects that can generate preliminary data for future funding and/or to help a trainee or junior faculty to develop a research program.
