WELCOME

Welcome to the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, a progressive center of excellence dedicated to advances in laboratory and clinical science, state-of-the art clinical care, and the education of future leaders in digestive and liver diseases. The Division is renowned for its pioneers in fundamental research and we continue this tradition with our wide array of ongoing investigative studies, including translational research dedicated to improving the lives of patients with complex gastrointestinal and liver disease. The education and training of future leaders in our specialty has and always will be an integral part of our mission.

The Division is comprised of 50+ faculty, 20+ clinical and postdoctoral fellows and 30+ research and administrative staff.  Steeped in the Stanford’s tradition in academic medicine, the faculty, fellows, and research staff of the Division are actively engaged in a diverse array of research, ranging from basic discovery science to bench-to-bed translational research to clinical trials and to population science.  We also conduct novel, high-impact research in collaboration with talented investigators in the School of Medicine, other schools and departments across the University, as well as outside Stanford.

Clinical faculty of the Division provides state-of-the-art care at multiple locations throughout the Bay area, including our flagship, multidisciplinary Digestive Health Center in Redwood City and Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, as well as Emeryville, Pleasanton, Livermore, and South Bay.

For the last 30 years, the Division’s fellowship program has had an outstanding record of success, producing graduates who have moved on to become leaders of the field.  We consider education the most fundamental mission of the Division, which has been key to our success in preparing our trainees for productive careers in academic medicine.

We encourage you to learn more about our Division through our website.  We look forward to hearing from you.
