It offered the diverse, robust training I wanted—from core rehabilitation, such as TBI, SCI, sports, and spine, to polytrauma and regenerative medicine. I was also fortunate to have outstanding mentors and Stanford alumni, Dr. Zheng and Dr. Tamura, whose ability to balance excellent patient care with academic work reflects the strength of their training and the type of physician I hope to become. During my away rotation, I immediately felt the supportive, family-like culture I was looking for. Residents and faculty were welcoming, genuinely happy, and created a true sense of community—from weekly didactics to shared lunches in the courtyard.
