My work uses computational methods to understand human genetic variation. We are interested in human history and evolution, and we hope to understand how genetic variation influences complex traits and phenotypic variation. My interest in genetics began when I was a child. I was interested in natural history and wildlife. Overtime, I developed an interest in evolution and population genetics, and I have been doing similar work ever sinc

My PhD advisor ran a great lab, and everybody there was very creative and excited about our work. We used to work late until the night. My advisor created an exciting atmosphere where we could collaborate on our ideas and also work on anything we were interested in. This freedom allowed me to develop into an independent scientist.

Stanford is an amazing place to be. The faculty are incredible. The students and postdocs are fantastic. My students blow me away by their excitement.
