Shaila Musharoff

Bio

Shaila Musharoff is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Genetics Department. She earned a Ph.D. in Genetics from Stanford University in 2015 and went on to be a Postdoctoral Scholar at UCSF. Shaila's research focuses on reducing health disparities, particularly among underrepresented racial groups. She develops statistical genetics methods to elucidate the genetic basis of human diseases which are effective for people of any race and is also interested in the effect of systemic racism on health outcomes. Shaila is committed to making healthcare equitable for all people. She is currently a Stanford LGBTQ+ Postdoctoral Group co-chair, the Stanford oSTEM Postdoctoral Representative, and has previously been the President of student groups for equity STEM. She also passionate about racial equity and is a project leader for multiple Stanford Genetics Advocacy Committee (GAC) efforts. In her free time, she studies dance and can often be found in the ocean or the woods.
