  • Connect and Recharge Group
    The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has convened Connect & Recharge Groups  to help support well-being for all Stanford Medicine colleagues who are affected by additional stressors in the face of COVID-19. These groups are free, confidential, and are open to members of the Stanford Medicine community, including faculty, trainees, and staff at the School of Medicine, Stanford Health Care, and Stanford Children's Health/LPCH.   • Navigating School in Uncertain Times Webinar Recording Now Available
    On Wednesday, February 3rd, Dr. Denise Pope, Senior Lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education and expert on parenting, student stress, anxiety, well-being, and engagement, shared with us practical tips and guidelines to best support grades 6-12 students with learning during these uncertain times.   • Resource and Support for Harassment & Hate Towards Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders during COVID-19 
    As you may have seen on the news, heard from friends or family members, or experienced yourself, harassment and hate crimes towards Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) have risen markedly during the COVID-19 crisis. A recent poll indicated that 60% of Americans have witnessed someone blaming people of Asian ancestry for COVID-19. While this may be the most recent manifestation of a long history of anti-Asian and anti-immigrant sentiment within the United States, Stanford University firmly rejects racism and hate speech.

COVID-19 and Health Disparities Pilot Projects


In partnership with the Center of Excellence in Diversity in Medical Education, the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity awarded six pilot grants to Stanford University School of Medicine faculty in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. These grants are intended to support the advancement of research into the impact of COVID-19 on the wellbeing, health service use, and health outcomes of populations that experience health disparities in the United States.

Stanford Medicine's Office of Faculty Development and Diversity recently held an event with Bonnie Maldonado, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Diversity, Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and Professor of Pediatrics and of Epidemiology and Population Health at Stanford Medicine, along with a panel of community experts to learn about racial health disparities related to COVID-19 and consider COVID-19 research opportunities.

Panelists included:
