Leadership Lunch & Learn: Writing an Op-Ed

Virtual via Zoom

Op-eds are a powerful tool for amplifying your subject matter expertise and lived experiences. Op-eds can shift public discourse, land your research in front of policy-makers, and connect you to diverse audiences within and beyond the academy. But how can you translate these complexities to peers and non-experts when you are deep in the weeds of your area of expertise? In this one-hour, virtual workshop, we will discuss how to transform your ideas into compelling narratives, how to select the most suitable publication for your op-ed, and how to pitch editors.

Pre-work:

  • Please bring an op-ed to the workshop, ready to share your perspective on why the op-ed is or isn't successful.
  • Please also bring a 2-3 sentence summary of a topic on which you would like to publish an op-ed.
