Leadership Lunch & Learn: Medical Education Scholarship 101: For the Busy Clinician Educator

As a busy clinician educator, it can be challenging to find time for medical education scholarship. During this session, we will review different types of medical education scholarship and describe the steps needed to design an educational scholarly project. The presenters will share their personal journeys and lessons learned in how they have been effective in doing medical education scholarship that aligns with their passions.

Speakers

Dr. Lahia Yemane, MD

Dr. Yemane is an Associate Program Director for the Pediatrics Residency and Assistant Dean for GME Community Engagement & Learning Environment. Dr. Yemane's scholarship focuses on building and evaluating innovative diversity and inclusion programs and studying facilitators and interventions that support the recruitment, inclusion and retention of underrepresented in medicine (UIM) GME trainees in academic medicine. She has co-founded local and national programs, including the Stanford Medicine Leadership Education in Advancing Diversity (LEAD) Program and the Association of Pediatric Program Directors’ Advancing Inclusiveness in Medical Education Scholars (AIMS) Program. 

Dr. Kim Hoang, MD

Dr. Hoang is a Clinical Associate Professor in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program and the Director for the Pediatric Residency Coaching Program. Dr. Hoang completed the Rathmann Foundation E4C Medical Education Fellowship in 2023 and has also served as the Pediatric Specialty Career Advisor for the Stanford School of Medicine. Her educational interests include coaching in graduate medical education, promoting learner autonomy in clinical settings, and patient flow quality improvement work.
