Internal Coaching through Stanford

Faculty who wish to receive coaching support internally may do so through one of the ways listed below. In any case, it is encouraged to reach out with a general inquiry about the availability of the coach and to schedule a brief chemistry call. Internal coaching is free of charge to the faculty as a service provided by the Office of Academic Affairs, but may be limited.
All internal coaching is confidential.

  • Rania Sanford, EdD, PCC, is a professional certified coach and co-founder of two coach training programs at the School (COACHME@Stanford, and the Faculty Coaching Program).
  • COACHME@Stanford faculty are all certified as coaches: Dr. Sarah Williams (Professor, Emergency Medicine and Founder of COACHME@Stanford), Dr. Maja Artandi (Clinical Professor, Primary Care), Dr. Kimberly Schertzer (Clinical Associate Professor, Emergency Medicine), and Dr. Pedro Tanaka (Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Associate Dean, Academic Affairs).
  • Several Stanford faculty are certified coaches: Dr. Jay Shah (Clinical Professor, Urology, Former SHC Chief of Staff), Dr. Aileen Adriano (Professor, Anesthesiology) and Dr. Juno Obedin-Maliver (Associate Professor, Obstetrics and Gynecology)
  • Relationship-Centered Communication (RCC) Coaching for Clinical Teams

If the coaching needs overlap with mental health, wellness or counseling needs for support, we recommend faculty to reach out to WellConnect or to the professional counselors at the Faculty Staff Help Center.

Please consult the Coach Referral Database for additional profiles of coaches who are external to Stanford.
