EX500 | SightMap | Wavelight Plus
The Eye Laser Center at Stanford is proud to offer our patients the most comprehensive, cutting-edge technology for vision correction. Among those are the Alcon EX500 Laser, SightMap, and WaveLight Plus, three pieces of technology that work together to help us provide highly personalized treatment.
About the technology:
Alcon EX500 Laser
This ultra-fast and precise excimer laser system reshapes the cornea during the LASIK procedure to correct refractive errors like myopia and astigmatism.
The EX500 is known for its speed (500 pulses per second), precision, and consistency.
SightMap
This all-in-one diagnostic device measures the eye's unique characteristics, including how light travels through your eye, the corneal shape, and the overall length of the eye length. SightMap uses this information to create a detailed, 3D virtual twin of your eye so our doctors can tailor your procedure to your individual eye.
WaveLight Plus
This software-based system processes the data gathered by SightMap and performs complex ray-tracing calculations. Its algorithm generates a customized treatment profile for the EX500 laser. The treatment is then delivered to the eye using the Alcon EX500 excimer laser yielding a precise, personalized treatment that gives the optimal visual acuity results.
