Examinations and Academic Milestone Assessment
In the course of the doctoral program, each student will carry out the following:
- Complete the core courses and elective coursework
- Pass the Preliminary Examination
- Identify a dissertation project
- Develop a detailed NIH-style dissertation proposalÂ
- Complete the Oral Qualifying Examination
- Advance to candidacy - Submit an Application for Candidacy for Doctoral Program
- Form a Doctoral Dissertation Reading Committee
- Conduct the dissertation research project(s)
- Write the dissertationÂ
- Present dissertation results in a public seminar - Submit a University Oral Exam form
- Pass the Final Examination (defense of dissertation)
- Complete and submit PhD dissertation to the Registrar
