EPH Celebrates Class of 2023
2023 Epidemiology and Clinical Research Grads
It has been an interesting journey for 2023 graduates of Stanford’s Epidemiology and Clinical Research MS and PhD programs. Students studied epidemiology and population health while navigating an evolving pandemic. COVID-19 imparted an advanced understanding of the way this science impacts the lives of real people and unveiled the many ways disease can impact health disparities. Moreover, the global crisis highlighted the critical role that epidemiologists play in understanding, preventing and controlling the spread of infectious disease. COVID underscored the importance of educating future leaders in epidemiology.
The Department of Epidemiology and Population Health is proud to present its 2023 class: 32 students earned master’s degrees and one student earned a PhD in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. Graduates come from diverse backgrounds and offer varied experiences, perspectives and beliefs. They shared their innovation and research with Stanford faculty, staff and each other. We’re incredibly proud of their achievements thus far and we look forward to the impacts they make in the field of epidemiology.
“Your role is to be a vanguard of change, the guardians of health, equity and the beacons of scientific integrity. That has never been more crucial,” said Dr. Melissa Bondy, Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health. “We take immense pride in your achievements and your triumphs. Congratulations to our graduating class and we wish you boundless success, fulfillment, and happiness in all of your future work and endeavors.”
Special congratulations to Yiran Liu, recipient of the Gerald J. Lieberman Fellowship and Shelby Crespi, recipient of a Stanford Graduate Fellowship in Science and Engineering.
