SCORE Program

  • About the Stanford Department of Emergency Medicine SCORE Program

SCORE recognizes that Stanford Medicine’s ideal of true community engagement is unlikely to occur without a workforce that is diverse in many ways.

In partnership with the Office of Medical Student Affairs, we are providing an exceptional opportunity for visiting medical students to participate in the Stanford Clinical Opportunity for Residency Experience (SCORE) Program. Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

  • SCORE recipients will receive a $5,500 stipend at the beginning of the rotation.
  • In addition to regular didactics, teaching sessions and clinical shifts, the students will be mentored throughout their month-long experience. We will also offer them their residency interview during this month.
  • Please refer to the Stanford University School of Medicine SCORE website for more general details about the program.

SCORE Application opens 2/13/26 via VSLO

You can click on the SCORE - How To Apply tab to read more information and access the VSLO link as well.

About the Emergency Medicine Advanced Clerkship (EMED 313A)

During this four-week, multi-site selective, medical students develop critical skills in the rapid evaluation and management of undifferentiated and acutely ill patients across two distinct emergency department settings: Stanford Hospital Center and Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center.

At each site, students work directly with emergency medicine attending physicians. Through this high level of mentorship and supervision, learners gain confidence in assessing, managing, and resuscitating a wide spectrum of patients presenting to each clinical environment.

Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the Kaiser Santa Clara location.
