LearnMed
About LearnMed
The LearnMed platform is powered by Canvas, the same product that Stanford and the School of Medicine uses for its learning management platform. The difference is the licensing. Stanford Canvas is licensed ONLY for matriculated Stanford students. LearnMed has the exact same look, feel, and features as Canvas. The difference is that LearnMed can be used for external learning audiences for internships, professional development, CME courses, etc. LearnMed provides all of the features necessary for housing a hybrid or fully online course, and can serve as a digital home base for face-to-face courses as well.
LearnMed allows course creators to design and manage:
- Syllabi
- Learning modules
- File management and downloads
- Discussion Forums
- Assignment submissions
- Quizzes (and a ‘speedgrader’ for essay exams)
- Gradebook
- Zoom integration
- Google Docs Integration
- Yuja and HapYak – Interactive video platforms
- Course Calendaring for events, and due dates – Outlook and Google Calendar compatible
- Course Email – Outlook and gmail compatible
- Basic User/Course Analytics
Canvas has free mobile apps for students, teachers and parents, that allow them to use the platform from mobile devices in addition to the LearnMed website. As opposed to Stanford/SOM Canvas, LearnMed doesn’t require SUNet IDs to be in place. Course developers and students can have accounts added with their existing emails.

- Required: $100/year per course (10+ courses pay a flat fee of $1000/year)
- Required: $6.20/year per user
- $300/year per subaccount (if you plan to have 4 or more courses, then we require a subaccount to simplify the course management process)
- $500/year for the self-registration Catalog feature (allows users to self-register into courses)
These costs include initial course configuration, training, and technical support. But they do not cover instruction design and production of the course.
