By better understanding the needs and experiences of diverse internal stakeholder groups, as well as the broader external community and partners, the Office supports Stanford Medicine’s mission to improve human health for all. Overall, the Office of the CCEO is focused on prioritizing a workplace culture that fosters connection, well-being, and shared values. In addition, the Office seeks to align efforts across Stanford Medicine to advance health equity as we deepen our partnerships with the communities we serve.

Inclusive Excellence and Health Equity Strategic Plan
The Office of the CCEO has developed the Stanford Medicine Inclusive Excellence and Health Equity Strategic Plan. The plan, which emphasizes engagement with individuals and teams across Stanford Medicine, has three strategic focus areas.
Culture and Belonging
Engage the Stanford Medicine community in cultivating and promoting a greater sense of inclusiveness and belonging, while articulating clear organizational values and equitable policies.
Community Engagement
Foster community partnerships and engagement, while working collaboratively with other stakeholders to promote community health.
Health Equity
Integrate health equity throughout all facets of research, education, and care delivery, mitigating social determinants of health.
Creating and maintaining a vibrant, successful, and inclusive academic environment demands best-in-class programs, designed to support the diverse people who make up Stanford Medicine, from students and postdoctoral scholars, to faculty, staff, residents, and more.
Aligning for Impact
In January 2024, Stanford Medicine held its first institution-wide Health Equity Symposium, which focused on improving the health of marginalized populations and identifying ways to tackle health disparities. The goal of the event is to build community and strengthen connections by bringing together equity-focused educators, researchers, and practitioners across numerous disciplines.
