Subcommittees

Subcommittees are formed as an ongoing effort to continuously address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues at Stanford Medicine and/or to bring a subgroup of constituents or communities together.

LGBTQ+/Sexual and Gender Minorities (SGM) Subcommittee

The LGBTQ+/Sexual and Gender Minorities (SGM) Subcommittee is the first subcommittee of the Diversity Cabinet and was a natural evolution from the LGBTQ+/Sexual and Gender Minorities (SGM) Task Force. The subcommittee meets to discuss ongoing Stanford Medicine Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) efforts, such as medical education curriculum, healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community, and seminars, trainings, and workshops representing the latest research on the LGBTQ+ community. The subcommittee also spearheads new programs and events for the community, including the Stanford Medicine LGBTQ+ Forum.

Stanford Medicine Alliance for Disability Inclusion and Equity (SMADIE) Subcommittee

The Stanford Medicine Alliance for Disability Inclusion and Equity (SMADIE) Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the Diversity Cabinet and is dedicated to advancing disability equity, accessibility, and inclusion at Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford Healthcare, and Stanford Children’s Health, and beyond.  The subcommittee meets regularly to discuss how to advocate for accessibility, resources, policies, and services at Stanford Medicine that extend beyond a legal and accommodations-based framework with the goal of dismantling systemic discrimination through universal design.  SMADIE seeks to build community and collaboration to eliminate ableism and provide equitable access and opportunity.  The subcommittee spearheads programs, events, and a variety of other opportunities to support its mission.
