About: DIVERSE Network

Diversity and Inclusion in cardioVascular trials through Enrollment and education Resulting in Sustainable Equity

The DIVERSE Network Center is a collaboration led by Stanford University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine, serving as a core component for the American Heart Association (AHA) Strategically-Focused Research Network (SFRN) on the Science of Diversity in Clinical Trials (SDCT). We envision our Center becoming a nationwide partner and resource for addressing the science of diverse enrollment and retention, training the next generation of clinical trial leaders, and disseminating best practices. Diverse populations of focus include these communities: Black, Latinx/a/o, Asian, Tribal or Pacific Islander, women, ages 75 years or older, LGBTQ+, or having dementia or other major disabilities.

TIDE consists of subprojects that aim to compare cutting edge potentially diversity-enhancing recruitment strategies
We aim for sustainability of diversity-enhancing practices through expansive stakeholder/site surveys/measurements, demographics surveys/documentation, toolkits, and trainings

Training Researchers to Advance Inclusion Networks

Our DIVERSE clinical trials will inform our free TRAIN program which will include classes, community meetings, and learning how to meaningfully work with people from diverse backgrounds in research spaces
Focusing on teaching clinical and community researchers how to do studies in full partnership with patients and communities to institutionalize a culture of research being done in a respectful and inclusive way
