Medium Volume General Pages

Most pages will fall into this category. With supporting resources and links to further information, medium density pages are prime for employing different panel layouts.

The column configurations provided by the Panel Builder help visually segment subjects, making it easier for visitors to digest the increase in content. The thoughtful use of headings, separators and images, as seen in the low volume examples, can still be applied for good effect.

Click to cycle through some examples or use the blue arrows below.

This is not necessarly for content driven pages. Remember not to use images for image sake.

One strategy to mitigate high-information density is to create 'pathways' or 'funnels' that still accuratley summaraize content.

Heading/Section name

These pathsways should reflect your sites primary objectives; don't simply mimick your left-navigation.

As demonstrated here, less is more, so put on your marketing hat and try to be as succinct  and coersive as possible.

Featured Person or Content

Be mindful about volume of text for this type of content. A few sentences usually suffice. Avoid placing mission statements, or long blocks of text in prime real estate areas, especially above the fold.

(H1) Multiple content blocks

Supported by a sentence or two of "Subheading Text" is another effective tactic for grabbing attention

(H2) Other 'Text' Techniques

  • Group like-subjects together using Panel Builders. See the Panel Builder Layouts for more ideas how.
  • Text that goes 100% wide is hard to read, so break it up with images or other materials such as downloads, links or quotes.
  • Long blocks of text are discouraged. If you can't avoid it, use the collapse text feature,  More

(H1) List of Featured Items

This page has several sections, mitigating density with staggered imagery and additional spacing

(H3) Alternate sides to add interest and improve readability

Though this page has a lot of text, the use of Text & Image and separator components effectivley distinguishes content; an alternative strategy to using Panel Builder columns and separate headings.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Morbi dapibus porta risus non laoreet. Maecenas tempus accumsan pellentesque. Nam sed lacinia justo.

Use separators to add breathing room to the page

Only a line or two of text should 'hang off' the bottom of the image as seen above. Any more than that, either adjust the word count accordingly, or use a separate image component with the 'float' option enabled —  this will allow the text to wrap around the image as seen here »
