Independent Postdoctoral Research and Career Development Seed Funding
Program Mission
The Sandy and Joan Weill CVI Postdoctoral Grant is a competitive, career development funding mechanism intended to support exceptional cardiovascular postdoctoral scholars prior to receipt of their first individual funding. This program provides one year of partial salary support and is paired with structured grant-writing training, and accountability to accelerate the transition to independent external funding.
This award emphasizes scientific innovation and career development, providing protected resources, mentorship, and training to transition toward research independence.
The Weill Family Foundation is dedicated to advancing human health through transformative investments in biomedical research. With their support, leading institutions such as Weill Cornell Medicine, UCSF, Stanford, and partner universities pursue collaborative research to accelerate breakthroughs in cancer, neuroscience, and immunology. The foundation prioritizes early-stage and cross-institutional initiatives that foster innovation, translation, and the development of new approaches to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease.
