"Being part of the CVI Summer Research Program was an eye-opening experience. I met some amazing people who became good friends, and I learned so much from my mentors and colleagues. I got hands-on experience with clinical research and learned how to connect with patients, making sure their experience was as positive as possible—it really opened my eyes to what’s possible in research. More than anything, this program helped me grow as a person and as a researcher, and it’s made me even more excited and inspired to pursue a future in medicine."

"One of the biggest challenges was stepping into a completely new area of research. I became part of research studying in maternal-fetal medicine (MFM), especially heart disease in pregnant people with CHD or AHD and how it affects neonatal outcomes. Honestly, I had never even thought about researching something like this before, so it initially felt intimidating. But diving in taught me so much, and now I can say clinical research is something I’m passionate about and OBGYN is a field I see myself going into."

"During the program, I realized how much I love participating in clinical research. I enjoy the hands-on nature of working with patients and making sure their experience is a positive one—it’s something I find really meaningful. I also learned that, as a student, I work best when I’m collaborating with others. Whether it’s brainstorming with peers or getting feedback from mentors, I really respond to learning from other around me."

"This program helped me realize just how diverse research can be. It also gave me the tools to work on a professional project, communicate with mentors and colleagues, and present my findings at the symposium. Furthermore, I’m super excited to be presenting my research at the SMFM conference soon—something I never imagined I’d get to do!"

"My advice is simple: put yourself out there. Go to the events and workshops, connect with your menotrs and peers, and fully commit to the experience. This entire expereince is one to learn. You’ll get out of it what you put in, and the more you show up, the more you’ll take away from it."
