"I had a fantastic experience in the CVI Summer Research Program. Not only was it well organized, I was paired with the perfect project based on my interests. My mentor was great and I have continued a relationship with her lab since my summer there. The program leadership was excellent, always available to help us and listen to us. We also had fun outings where we got to get to know the other program participants and I have formed longterm friendships."

"The largest obstacle for my time in the program was financial. California is much more expensive than I was used to and I didn’t have a car. The program leadership heard our concerns and worked to get us additional funds at the end of the program to support us!"

"I learned the benefits of research, not just for the patients, but as a clinician. I got to see the ins and outs of how a lab is run. Even if you don’t plan on having your own lab, I believe it is important to understand how research is conducted, the different types of research, and how they eventually affect your patients. I learned that there always more unanswered questions to discover and answer."

"Through this program, I got ample experience with conducting clinical/translational research, learning new software, writing abstracts, presenting posters, oral presentations, and writing manuscripts. Each of these are necessary skills that have helped prepare me for my future practice."
