The Stanford Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is committed to expanding access to leading-edge cardiothoracic surgical care. Through a valued partnership with Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, this initiative brings the department's world-renowned surgeons and expertise to support Sequoia’s well-established cardiac surgery program.
Leading this collaboration is Carol Chen, MD, a Clinical Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Surgical Director of Adult Heart Transplantation at Stanford Health Care. She also serves as the Director of Cardiac Surgery at Sequoia Hospital.
Dr. Chen specializes in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery. She has extensive experience in heart transplantation, including patient selection and donor evaluation. She is also highly skilled in aortic surgery, valve repair and replacement, coronary artery bypass, and mechanical circulatory support. Sequoia offers extensive cardiac expertise, a state-of-the-art catheterization laboratory, dedicated cardiac care staff and a commitment to pioneering new treatments.
