May 1, 2025
The Stanford Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is entering an exciting new partnership with Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital to expand access to advanced cardiac care for residents of the surrounding community. As of March 1, 2025, Stanford has expanded its cardiothoracic surgery services at the Sequoia Cardiac Surgery office in Redwood City, California.
Through this partnership, Stanford surgeons will expand the list of offered cardiothoracic surgeries at Sequoia Hospital and bring Stanford’s expertise in cardiac surgery and patient-centered care to support Sequoia’s well-established cardiac surgery program.
“Our department is committed to advancing cardiac surgical care and extending access to leading-edge care for people with heart conditions,” said Joseph Woo, MD, Chair and Norman E. Shumway Professor of Stanford’s Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. “We are proud to partner with the team at Sequoia Hospital, and we appreciate the collaboration and shared commitment that made this partnership possible.”
Sequoia Hospital, a 208-bed general acute care facility, offers a range of services, including comprehensive heart care. Sequoia’s Heart Surgery program, part of the Heart and Vascular Institute, performs cardiac valve repairs and replacements, coronary bypass surgery, surgical Maze procedures for atrial fibrillation, and other procedures, including robotic surgery.
Stanford is proud to extend its deep commitment to cutting-edge research, clinical innovation, and highly specialized care to residents of the Redwood City community. This collaboration will ensure patients have direct access to high-quality cardiac surgical care from Stanford surgeons while receiving care at Sequoia Hospital.
