The latest Stanford Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) Quarterly Newsletter, Winter 2025, is filled with numerous updates and commendable achievements from the Stanford Cardiothoracic Surgery faculty. This newsletter included some of the following notable achievements from the last quarter:

Awards and Grants

  • Patpilai Kasinpila, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, has been appointed Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
  • Ngan Huang, PhD, Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and, by courtesy, of Chemical Engineering, was appointed Co-Director of Mentored Research Programs at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
     

2024 Faculty Recognition Award Winners

  • John MacArthur, MD, Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, was recognized for his sustained efforts to support and mentor trainees from underrepresented backgrounds across all career stages and creating a culture of inclusivity and respect.
