Dr. Arvind Bishnoi Promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Stanford Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is excited to announce that Arvind Bishnoi, MD, has been promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery (Pediatric Cardiac Surgery), effective April 1, 2025.
Dr. Bishnoi practices at Stanford Medicine Children's Health. His clinical interests and expertise include pulmonary atresia and unifocalization, ventricular assist device and heart transplant, arterial switch in regressed left ventricle and hybrid cardiac procedures. Dr. Bishnoi is dedicated to delivering outstanding care to every pediatric patient he treats.
"My ongoing goal is to achieve excellence by continuous learning and application of knowledge in pediatric cardiac surgery. I have refined my knowledge and skills at Stanford and am excited by this promotion. I look forward to continuing the innovative work at Stanford," said Dr. Bishnoi, who joins a robust team of pediatric heart surgeons at Stanford Children's.
Dr. Bishnoi completed his medical training at Kasturba Medical College of Manipal, India, in 2002, followed by general surgery at Gujrat University and cardiac surgery training at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, in 2008. He has worked as a faculty member at some of the top institutes in India, most recently as a professor of cardiac surgery at Manipal University. He spent 14 years as an attending surgeon, completing nearly 3,000 congenital heart operations. As a clinician and teaching faculty, he trained young surgeons as cardiac surgeons and mentored them in their clinical and research work.
Recently, he spent one year at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., focusing on mechanical circulatory support and transplantation. He joined the department as a clinical instructor in pediatric cardiac surgery at Stanford in 2024. He is interested in continuing to expand his skill set for managing complex conditions, including MAPCAs and advanced heart failure while pushing forward with areas of translational research in implantable device monitoring and therapy.
