Dr. Paul Wise, the Richard E. Behrman Professor of Child Health and Society, has served in a variety of cross-disciplinary consultative roles, including Special Assistant to the US Surgeon General, Chair of the Steering Committee of the NIH Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research, Chair of the Task Force on Strategic Priorities of the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Service’s Advisory Committee on Genetics, Health and Society, and currently is a member of the Advisory Council of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, NIH.

Dr. Wang currently serves as a member of the National Advisory Committee for APA/NIDDK (NIH) Research in Academic Pediatrics Initiative on Diversity (RAPID program) to foster minority faculty members in Pediatric Health Services Research.

Sickle Cell Disease Treatment Demonstration Program and the Sickle Cell Disease Newborn Screening Program

Dr. Wang chairs the data working group for the HRSA funded National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality’s (NICHQ) National Coordinating Center for the Sickle Cell Disease Treatment Demonstration Program and the Sickle Cell Disease Newborn Screening Program, to implement quality improvement initiatives and measure quality of care in multiple networks over 11 states to improve outcomes.
